Look Who Came To Visit

I was sitting quietly by myself, daydreaming and contemplating life...when this little friend came to visit.
He sat there, tho none others came....
....so the two of us sat..he with his thoughts, me with mine....life is wonderful sometimes...

Fern That's Overgrown it's Space

Before the Bend in Red River

I truly love this grand old river. There are places to sit and get comfortable about and on the rocks, and just be still and think. Some of the most beautiful sunsets are here..
and it's also a favorite place for the fishermen. Some really large fish are taken from this river..
If I'm allowed for a moment to be a proud grandma,
my grandson was fishing near here, with his dad...and caught a 47 pound catfish. I can't describe the smile on his face and in his eyes..when he said.."Come look what I have grandma. I got him in by myself". He was so proud, and there was a bit of proud smile on his dad as well. Both he and his catfish were a bit wet and kinda muddy, but it was a good thing..
This is also the dividing line, if you will...of Texas and Oklahoma. The bottom of photo is Texas..across the river..is Oklahoma..

Twilight

I sat here...in the beauty of this twilight..the soft colors and haze was wonderful....*sighs...

From A Distance..Fly Away

I wasn't quite quick enough to capture the bird...but I had fun. It was a beautiful day, I had my camera..and it was twilight . What more could I ask????

The Fisherman

Another fisherman....and yes, he caught some fish. He held them up so I could take photo..alas, myself little camera didn't work well..(it was my fault ) and the photos didn't do well.

Gathering of Dancers

Newspaper photo...taken in December near Durant, Oklahoma...
alas, I was not able to attend,....however,I wanted to post this pic, so my friend Alice in Singapore could see the manner of dress.
I wish I could have attended..there is nothing (to me) quite so exciting as the music..the flutes, the drums..the flash of the dancers feet....it's quite wonderful....

The Chair

There is something about this little house that brings me back to look..and finally I took a photo.
It's paint is peeling and its doesn't stand quite so straight anymore..but then, does anything?
The houses yard is not landscaped..yet is kept up..,
the sidewalk is swept clean..
the houses chair stands ready for you to set a spell and rest yourself..
yes..yes !! I like this house

The Old Firehouse

For so many years, this old firehouse stood ready and waiting..with it's trucks, it's hoses..and it's firemen..all at the ready, waiting for the call to come in.
Few things strike fear at the heart so fast as Fire !!!!!!!!, one can only wonder at what this little firehouse has seen.
It's been deserted for a long while..it's truck and firemen have gone to bigger stations..yet the little firehouse bravely stood..all on it's own, till someone needed it again...
And thankfully, someone has. It has been bought, and is being restored to it's almost original condition by the new owner..soon to be a home filled with a family and friends again..
I'm so happy for little the firehouse....and it's new family..

Ranch House on the Hill

This has for ages, been a favorite place...the grounds are always beautiful and in the heat of a summers day...the shades of greens are unbelivable...cooling and refreshing..
Is there anything else so blue..as a Texas sky ?????

Tiny Pink Flowers

These grow in a great mass along a fence next to an old building. I like both the building and the plant..I think they're wonderful

Three Tiny Friends

I took these photos at the end of summer..I'm not sure of their names,.... I just know they are closed up till evening time..when sun is going down and air is cooler.
I call these little flowers three beautiful friends..one is for a lovely friend in Singapore, one is for a lovely friend in England...and the other is me..lovely ??, fun loving ?? crazed?? in Texas

New Pepper Plant

This is my new little plant..I just got it today. It's called Chili Fire Power, and as the name implies..is a hot pepper plant. Though it's a tiny little plant yet, it's trying hard to be big, and already has some teensy beginnings of peppers. Yayyyyy for little plant.
I already have plans for my vegetable garden..I can hardly wait. I've been looking at gardening catalogues and dreaming of a perfect planting season and wonderful vegetables.

Through the Trees

Almost hidden from a beautiful sunset....

Eternal Flame Monument

This eternal flame is dedicated to men and women in Grayson County,Texas who have lost their lives defending their country.
It's located in a tiny park..very shaded, secluded...it's a wonderful little place to sit and gather your thoughts..a quiet time.., in a little town filled with pride.

" One bar of Sunny Monday will go as far as two bars of any other laundry soap.

Older Coins

One of my favorite things to do is to work on my family history..and have been working at it for going on 6 years now ( one great great grandfather has eluded me for all this time, however, I don't give up easy !! )......it's a fascinating, time consuming love, and maybe it's the reason for my love of all things vintage. ....from aprons, to patterns..to the embroidery and quilting.
And to the older coins.....some are 1891 silver coins..and I have some earlier ones put away. I always wonder, how many times these coins have changed hands, who carried them..who they were...

The little silver bars and the coin in the little clear case..were gifts from my grandson. He is a beginning collector also..

The rest of the coins to follow, are coins collected while counting and rolling coins taken at my grocery store.
Though rolling coins is a job I hate, it does have it's small rewards..the coins here and a few others, have come through the stores registers within the last 3 months.

Wooden Nickles

For most forever, I've heard the old saying..."Don't take any wooden nickles". I've never really understood the meaning of it..but I assume it means they're not worth anything.
I think I kinda like them tho...and have these newly acquired ones in my little collection of old tokens.
Since I was taking a photo of the tokens..I took pics of a few more older coins. In my years as a small grocery store owner, thousands and thousands of coins have come across my store counters, some of them......a few, are really good ones. Some really old silver..some not so old. I think my favourite older money..are the silver certificates. I think they're wonderful...

Repairs Needed !!!

Yes, this is a photo of paint in need of repair. It was a slow day for photos...and I thought, why not?? Hence the photo of peeling paint.
I've often heard the saying..."Their life is as interesting as watching paint peel"...well !!!!!
I think the paint is quite interesting..no matter which way photo is turned..it presents itself in little lifescapes in different positions.... yes, I like it..

As Interesting as Watching Paint Peel
