Knot in the Wood and the Nails
I thought this quite interesting......the board must have a hundred nails in it.., and the knot in the wood peeking through it all...

The Red Berries
A stand of trees, some jungle strength vines, tangled greenery...and tiny berries..,
each belonging there, and
each dependent on the other for support and strength

The Road
The little road is so well hidden, it's almost not seen. Having found this in my wanderings this past fall.., in the springtime..when all is beautiful and green, and the wild flowers are blooming.....I must come back and see where the road takes me... I love adventures..

Sunset
Sunset at the almost deserted parking lot.
Some of the most beautiful sunsets to be found, happen at the lake and the river...two of my favorite places to wander about...

Alleyway is Sad Disrepair
I wish these alleyways, and small sidestreets could be kept nicer and they could..sadly, in some areas, nobody seems to care....and steadily they get worse.
They are, however...a part of the area......

The Last of the Pecans
I was going through looking at different photos and patterns, trying to sort and in general clean up a few things and came across these photos....
These pecans and others in great abundance, was found in an alley...with pecan trees of all varities on both sides. There was so many that literally, they were sometimes found in little heaps, just waiting to be picked up..by you or the squirrels.
Some of the pecan trees in this area are so huge and tall..very old, and then there are the "youngsters", the ones just beginning and having their first year of pecans.
Found in this area are the smaller Native and also the larger varities..the paper shells. For those that don't know..the papershells are much larger..some are huge..and their shells are easier to crack open. Some of the really huge papershells can easily be cracked, by holding in your hand and squeezing them together...
Tho they are harder to pick outta the shell...I prefer the little Texas Native pecan...for taste in candies and pies, they have no equal..they're simply the best.
Somehow, I managed to stop munching pecans long enough to put 8 gallon bags of them in freezer for future use...

Wilderness
Some of my favorite wanderings are in places such as this. There is always wonder if I happen upon a little creek wandering through the brambles...and in spring and summer..there are always wild blackberries and wild plums. Is there anything better than jams, jellies and cobblers made with just picked wild fruit ????

Tree Branch Pencils
I haven't a clue how these pencils are made..however, they are small "tree branches"??? , and some are in a regular pencil lead..and the ones pictured, have colored lead.
I was told to sharpen them with a pocket knife, as in the manner it once was done.., I think I might just keep them as they are...

New Beginnings
In the midst of so much cold weather, I am reminded once again..of the promise of spring. At the far back of the fence row, there is this wonderful green growth..the flower heads waiting patiently for their time to bloom.
These are some of my favorite flowers..some call them Iris..I call them the old fashioned name..Flags. They are seen all over ..from today's yards, to fields and pastures...and old homeplaces, where the houses once were and are no more....only the flowers show that someone had lived there before.
I think my favorite color is purple..maybe yellow...no, wait..it's white. Truth to tell, I love them
all....their fragrance is wonderful...
Three days later...still no blooms
